Sports Funding

Funding may be available to groups and clubs under the following headings:

1) Capital Funding

Aimed at groups and organisations planning to build/extend Community, Sporting, Recreational or Cultural facilities throughout the county.

a. Multi-Purpose Community/Resource Centre

€75,000 (non-designated)

b. Special Interest Facilities/Organisations

There is an annual deadline for facilities funding. Check with a Sport Development Officer as it may change slightly from year to year. A group, who have not drawn down funding under this scheme in the last five years, is eligible to apply.

What must be submitted

• Complete registration form and funding application

• A detailed proposal showing convincing evidence of local need for the facility

• A three-year business plan for the facility (where appropriate)

• Copies of planning approvals/fire safety certificates involved

• Evidence of ability to realistically complete project within two years

• Evidence of tax compliance (Tax Clearance Certificate/CHY Number)

2) Activity Funding

Up to €3000 (non-designated) – 50% of total cost involved

Up to €4000 (designated) – 80% of total cost involved

• Must be a properly set up group – bank a/c, committee, insurance, tax no. etc.

• 80% members must reside in Fingal

• Applications must be made before purchase

• Funding paid upon production of receipts

• Normally claimed within 3 months

• Council support must be acknowledged

The Council doesn’t fund the running cost of clubs. Applications every two years

Drawing down capital and activity funding

• Must be drawn within 6 months of the award being made

• Can be drawn down in full or part-drawn down

• To draw down, submit original receipts for twice the amount of the grant

• Ensure details of bank a/c and tax number if the amount exceeds €630

• Submit evidence of acknowledgements given to Council for awarding funding

3) Summer projects

€1500 (non-designated)

€2000 (designated)

Available during the first week of the project. Included in this amount is full subvention of insurance costs of the project. What is needed?

• Complete Activities Funding application form

• Supply proposed programme of events of your project

• Confirm insurance for all events covered by the project

• Indicate how balance of funds will be raised

• Submit a full evaluation of the project once completed

4) Youth Sports Grants

Available to all clubs with a youth section who are registered with Fingal County Council. Award is approximately €700.

Usually allocated towards the end of the year, i.e. October-December. Please check with a Sport Development Officer for an application form and annual criteria.
